Color your own world | Rocío López

Hi!!

Rocío here with a new project and process video for Shimmerz Paints as part of their YouTube Education Team. For this time I made a scrapbook layout and I have to say that I really love the outcome.

I start the project cutting a few paint brushes with a free cut file from Paper Issues. Then, I added some color to the handle with Paste-eez A Little Nutty

To create the paint strokes in the background I used Inklingz Plum Crazy, Shimmerz Peacock's Plume, Shimmerz Evergreen, Shimmerz Sunny and Shimmerz Magenta

I had to add splatters and for this, I used a few Vibez that coordinate with the colors I had already used: Vibez Grape Escape, Vibez Deep Blue Sea and Vibez Rose Gold Red

I thought that the title "Color your own world" was perfect for the page so I added it using a few adhesives alphabets.

For the final decorations I used stickers from collection Cute Girl and Urban Chic and some splatters with Shimmerz Christmas Cheer because I love that gold!

Here you can see another close up picture and now I leave you with the process video on how I've created this scrapbooking page.

I hope you like it and see you soon!

Rare & Treasured 12x12 Layout | Nicole Kerr

Hello Shimmerz Fans!
Nicole here and today I have a fun 12x12 layout to share with you!

My inspiration for this weeks layout was from a photo of my husband that I have been really wanting to do a layout with, but I could never seem to find the right papers or products to use. This photo had a different shade of purple and it was hard to find something that worked. I was determined to get this layout documented, so I turned to my Shimmerz and I should have known....my Shimmerz never fail me! I love how this turned out and it's the perfect shades of purple! Here's a close up of my final layout:

I began by taking a sheet of plain white card stock and adding a layer of white gesso to it. Once it was dry, I just added layer on top of layer of Spritz Walkin' A Titght Heliotrope, Creameez Sky's The Limit and Inklingz Precious Posey.  The three of these made the most beautiful tone on tone paper!

Once all of these beautiful purple layers were dry, I turned the page over and began drawing hearts on the back.  I kept them close to being all the same size, however I did make a couple smaller ones that I used to fill in a couple gaps.  Once I had them all drawn, I cut them out and began to arrange them on my layout in a pattern that visually appeared as though they were "falling" on my page. I did add more of the Spritz Walkin' A tight Heliotrop behind the hearts using my brush and splatters to help bring out more of the darker color in my photo. Once dry, I took just the smallest amount of tape runner adhesive and stuck them down, then took this page to my sewing machine and ran a straight stitch down the middle of each heart.

Once my hearts were in place, I layered my photo, added in some word phrase stickers and small embellishments from my stash and added some purple labels for my journaling and that was it!  Here are some close ups of my final page:

Thank you so much for joining me today!
I hope you got inspired!

Create Your Own Patterns with Shimmerz | Rubeena I.

Hello, Rubeena here from A Rare Ruby with another post as Creative Design Team member! In today's post, I will be focusing on the beautiful Shimmerz paints.  Have you ever wanted to channel your inner artist and create your own patterns or backgrounds? These paints were absolutely perfect for this activity. I look for ways to create easy cards. I only meant to create one or two backgrounds because they ended up requiring some concentration (sort of meditative). Instead, I ended up with six backgrounds (I had a seventh, but I wasn't too fond of it so I set it aside for another time). To make things less complicated, I selected six random colors and used those for all of the backgrounds. You can search for pattern inspiration on Pinterest or Instagram feeds if you are not able to come up with patterns on your own.

I won't go into details on how I created each background as they were done loosely. It was fun learning about my watercolor brushes, too. I did random brush strokes and shapes and added further details and doodles with black and white pens. Once the backgrounds dried, I taped them to my card bases and added my sentiments and word dies.

Easy, beautiful cards, right? Check out the shimmer on the last one!! Amazing! I had a lot of fun. I hope you'll be inspired to make your own! I will definitely be creating more because they make me feel like a true artist.

That's all for today. If you place an order, don't forget to mention my name Rubeena in the notes to get yourself a freebie! Thanks for stopping by! Until next time.

Brrr | Anna Komenda

Hello mixed media fans. It's Anna here with my shiny and frosty project. I used Shimmerz mists and paints to create a winter page full of sparkly snowflakes. I chose a picture of my daughter playing with snow and throwing it into the air. It was cold but sunny day and snow sparkled beautifully.

Using sparkly mists helped me to highlight the winter glow and frost. I used four different shaded of blue to make my snowflakes. I love how all the Vibez combine together.

It's hard to show how sparkly my background is. Shimmerz paints are filled with a lot of shimmering powder and it's so easy to add shine to you projects using them. They also dry with a glossy type of finish.

With background as pretty as that and with so much effort put into making it, you don't want to cover it with embellishments :) That's why I added only few of them here and there.

I am happy how it turned out. As always I have a process video for you.

That's all for today. Thank you for stopping by and see you next month with another mixed media project.

'Lovely' Layout | Niki Rowland

Hey there Shimmerz Fans! Niki back with you today sharing a layout and process video creating a bold background. I was inspired by a pink-yellow ombre effect journaling card and thought I'd have a go at re-creating that effect onto a white background.

I started off by painting the bold stripes. I used a wide paintbrush. The yellow is original Shimmerz which is a water colour paint and I could simply dip my brush straight into the pot and paint the stripe. The next colour was the slightly darker yellow/orange which is actually a Vibez Spray - in 'Sunset Strip'. I couldn't fit my wide paintbrush into the bottle so I poured a little bit into a water pot and painted that way. The sprays are very runny so this was more difficult to paint with, however becuase it was so wet it blended really well with the Sunny Shimmerz, which was great for the ombre effect I was going for.

I then moved onto the pinks and I used another original Shimmerz paint for the darker pink and Vibez Pop Art Pink for the lightest one. I then added flicks using coordinating colours over each stripe.

While I was waiting for my stripes to dry I pulled out the word 'Lovely' from a chipboard sheet and had a go at painting that ombre style too. I carefully applied the colours to the word and blended them together to achieve the same ombre effect.

Once my stripes were dry I applied Dazzlerz in Dreamscicle through a stencil onto my background. When everything was dry I behan building up the layers of my layout and embellished using tone on tone embellishments.

To finish off I flicked drops of gold Inklingz in the Miner Miner 49er colour onto my layout.

You can see my process video of this layout below. When you place an order for any Shimmerz products, make sure you pop my name in the comments sections and you will receive a free gift - happy days!
